Willa Carmen (Brubaker) Brown was born September 9, 1927, in Marion County, near Knoxville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Russell and Lela (Smith) Brubaker.
She was a lifelong Iowa resident and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1946. Willa was united in marriage to Gordon D. Brown on July 5, 1947.
They were married for 61 years. To this union, twin sons Darwin and Duane were born.
Willa was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Iowa.
Willa passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center, in Indianola, Iowa at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 9 days.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons: Duane (Barbara) Brown of Knoxville, Iowa, and Darwin (Joan) Brown of Indianola; three grandchildren: Kevin (Angela) Brown, Kristi (Barry) Kreinbring, and Jennifer (Nicholas) Johnston; 8 great-grandchildren: Zachary and Cassandra Brown, Courtney, Cameron, and Braydon Kreinbring, Jerin (Nathaniel) Young and Kaden and Kylie Johnston; twin sister, Wilma Ver Heul and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; daughter-in-law, Dixie (Beller) Brown; two sisters: Charlene Harrington and Roberta McMillen and a brother, Dale Brubaker.
Funeral Services for Willa Brown, age 90 Knoxville, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Willa’s name to H.C.I. Care Services or to the Good Samaritan Society of Indianola, Iowa.
