Amy Lou Hanus (Cox), the daughter of Marion and Anna (Hoots) Cox, was born on July 20, 1947, in Clear Lake, IA.
She was raised and educated in Ventura and Knoxville, graduating from Knoxville with the “Class of 1965”
Amy was united in marriage with Eddie Hanus on September 22, 1973, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Eagle Grove.
To this union they had two children, Christopher and Jennifer.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and later the St. John’s Catholic Church.
Amy enjoyed playing bingo, shopping and family time. She passed the time in her craft house, woodworking and crafting silver jewelry.
She took pride in being an active and supportive farm wife and raising her children. Her grandchildren were a highlight of her life.
Amy passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the age of 79 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Alan Cox, Gary Cox, Ron Cox, Sue Moss, Butch Cox, and Wendy Harnden; brother-in-law, Jule Hanus, and sister-in-law Mary Reiland.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Eddie Hanus;
children: Christopher Hanus (Jaime), and Jennifer Jacquot (Sandy); grandchildren: Madison, Layla, Lilly, and Jonah; sister: Darlene Lightner (Butch); brother, Dan Cox(Joyce); sisters-in-law: Tish and Dotie cox, and multiple nieces and nephews.
