Services for Blanche Louise Welty, who died Feb. 10, 1989 at Charter Hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 84 were held at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola with Rev. Yeaton officiating. Internment was at Sunset Memorial Garden in Des Moines.
Mrs. Welty was born Aug. 11, 1904 to William A. and Cora A. Boren in Knoxville, Iowa.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Knoxville. She was a graduate of Knoxville High School, and taught country school in Marion County.
She attended two years of college at Cedar Falls, and attended Iowa Wesley College of Mt. Pleasant, Simpson and Drake University until she received her masters degree. She taught grades one through five at Swan, Patterson, Peru and Runnels schools and later taught remedial reading in Phoenix School in West Des Moines.
In Aug, 1942 she married Cressley Dewitt Welty and they made their home in Winterset for several years, moving to Indianola to farm in 1954, where they spent the rest of their lives.
Upon moving to Indianola she put her membership in the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by: one brother, Robert Boren and wife Joy of Altoona; one sister, Helen Shutt of Truro, Iowa; one niece Elizabeth Smith and husband Larry and children Shawn and Dawn, Four nephews, Brent Boren and John Boren of Des Moines and Bert Boren of California, and Bill Boren and wife Ella and family of Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Wilbur Boren and Fred Boren.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
