Services for Betty (Jones) Conklin, 90, who passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Vintage Hills in Indianola, will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Betty was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Marion County, Iowa, to Amos and Grace (Core) Jones. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1943.

Prior to marriage, Betty began working as a teacher in a one-room school house. In 1947 she married Carl Conklin of Indianola. Their 43 year marriage was blessed with three children, Richard (Dick), Greg and Donna.

Betty also worked 28 years in the Warren County Treasurer’s Office, serving 21 years as the Warren County treasurer. She enjoyed watching Indianola Indians sporting events and even won “Fan of the Year” in 1996. Betty loved playing cards with her friends, cheering for the Chicago Cubs and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She was known for her sassy sense of humor and being just a little ornery.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Grace, her brothers, Amos and Robert, her husband, Carl, and her son, Richard.

Survivors include son, Greg (Brenda) Conklin of Indianola; daughter, Donna (Kent) Stille of Eagle Rock, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Mandy (Chad) Beason, Derek Lord, Ashley (Nick) Augustine, Shelby Conklin, Kelly (Nick) Kopriva, Erin (Chris) Larsen, Allison (Cody) Putney; and 15 great-grandchildren, Jack, Paige and Drew Beason, Fisher and Phoenix Lord, Wyatt, Cash, Bo and Hank Augustine, Koko Kopriva, Karter and Sawyer Larsen, Blake, Blair and Boone Putney.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Memorials may be given in her name to the First United Methodist Church or Indianola Athletic Boosters. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
