Jeffery Allen Holt, age 58 of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away suddenly Saturday, July 16, 2016, in rural Marion County, Iowa.
Visitation for Jeff will begin at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Jeff’s family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Jeff will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 22, 2016, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville, with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating. A private family burial was held at Graceland Cemetery, of Knoxville, prior to services.
Jeff was born in Texarkana, Arkansas, on February 24, 1958, the only son of James Alma and Patricia Mae (Melendy) Holt. The Holt family soon moved to Knoxville, Iowa, where Jeff attended school. During high school he worked for The People’s Clothing Store on the Westside of the Knoxville Square.
Jeff worked at Monroe Plastics for a short time before starting at Pella Corp in 1977. Jeff ran a molder, and for many years he ran a metal roller and metal molder machine. Jeff was currently a fork truck driver for Pella Corp.
Jeff enjoyed several hobbies including woodworking, gardening and he loved nature, especially planting trees.
He was a wonderful cook and canned food. Jeff had one special hobby that he and his father shared in common, pen making. Jeff was a very talented and meticulous pen maker, as was his father before him.
Jeff is survived by his mother Patricia Holt of Knoxville; three sisters, Pam (Ron) Meriweather of Oskaloosa, Sherry (Gary) Smith of Knoxville, and Joy (Rick) Van Donsler of Knoxville; eight nieces and nephews; Jeff Smith, Jeremy Smith and daughter Payton Smith, Ryan Van Donsler, Joel Van Donsler, Casey Van Donsler, Leanne Mitchell, Amy Cardoza and Christy Dykstra; several great-nieces and nephews; many friends including two very special friends Mike and Lu Bennett of Knoxville; and his Jack Russell Terrier Gateway.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father James A. Holt.
A memorial has been established in Jeff’s name to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. Condolences may be sent to WWW.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Jeff’s family with arrangements.
