George "Scotty" Scott, 85, passed away on March 1, 2008, at Helathwin Specialized Care Center in South Bend, Ind.

Scotty was born May 21, 1922, in Pershing to Thomas and Marina "Minnie" Johnson Scott.

He married Marjorie Fowler on April 18, 1951.
Scotty was a graduate of Knoxville High School. He moved to Centerville after he married and enjoyed many years of employment as a regional distribution manager for the Des Moines Register and Tribune. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Ottumwa.

Scotty was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 50 years. Scotty served his country during World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps. He served a long tour of duty in the Phillipine Islands. He received numerous medals for bravery and exemplary service during his time of service.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, daughter Carol (Sam) Sweeden of Niles, Mich.; son George (Connie) Scott of Rittman, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna French of Ottumwa and Elizabeth Neifert of Knoxville, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters and one great-granddaughter.

Military services were performed by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Internment is at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa.
