James Herman Bruinekool was born on April 11, 1945 in Pleasantville, Iowa. He was
one of two sons born to Bernice Irene Shivvers and Peter “Pete” Herman Bruinekool.
Jim graduated from Knoxville High School in 1963 and from William Penn University.
Jim just retired last year after 31 years at the VA Medical Center working as a
corrective therapist.

He planned recreational activities for the veterans as well
as helping them learn to drive cars with special attachments to compensate for their
handicaps.

Jim was an avid deer hunter and fisherman; making annual trips to Canada with his
fishing buddies. He enjoyed his morning coffee group of friends. Jim was a long-time member of the Baty-Tucker American Legion Post #168. He was also a member of
the Masonic Lodge and Zag Ga Zig Shrine. Jim had a kind and generous heart.

James Herman Bruinekool passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the Mercy Medical
Center in Des Moines at the age of 62 years and 11 months.

His parents preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are one brother and his wife, Robert, and Maxine
Bruinekool of West Des Moines; two nephews, Christopher and Matthew (Sandra) Bruinekool;
two great-nephews all of West Des Moines; cousin, Susan (Robert) Holdsworth of Minneapolis,
MN as well as several second cousins.

A Celebration Of Life service was held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Williams Funeral
Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Mohr officiating. Katie Davis sang “On Eagles Wings” and “Bridge Over Troubled Waters”. Jim Kidder provided organ music. Committal
of the cremains will be at a later date in Lincoln Cemetery, Marion County, Iowa.James Bruinekool

Humane Society or H.O.P.E. Builders (Help Other People Everyday).
