Services for William Stewart (Bill) Buckles of Burligton who passed away on Oct 9 at the Applegate
Nursing Center in Manmonth Ill., were held Oct. 12 at the Lunning Chapel in Burlington. The Rev. Robert Dodder Officiated Interment was in
Aspeth Grove Cemetery, Burlington.
He was born in Knoxville on Nov. 2, 1925, the son of L. L. (Bud) and Verdene Stewart Buckles.
He married Corinne Somerville of Burlington on Jan. 5, 1945. His wife preceded him in death in 1967.
He attended school in Knoxville and graduated in 1942. Following graduation he enlisted in the Navy and was a
World War II veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Jamee Powell of Maple Grove Minn.; three sons,
Larry of Omaha Neb. and Gary and Dennis of Burlington; one sister, Margaret Harvey of Knoxville.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Lloyd and nephew, Joseph Buckles.
A memorial has been established to the Applegate Nursing Center Manmouth, Ill.
