Vernon Alfred Little, 80, of Evansdale, died Sunday morning, December 2, 2012 at Allen Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1932, in Marysville, the son of Thomas J. and Hannah J. Comstock Little. He married Eldeen F. Chiri on June 30, 1951, in Chariton.
He served in the Army National Guard. Vernon worked at John Deere as a mechanic for 30 years retiring in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Dena; 2 sons, Steven Little of Waterloo, and Doug Little of Evansdale; 3 daughters, Debra (Rick) Corwin of Evansdale, Kim (Mike) Berry of Elk Run Heights, Kelli Billington of Evansdale; 1 brother, Styrl (Connie) Little of Texas; 3 sisters, Twila (Richard) Roberts of Montana, Veva (George) Becker of Colorado, Illa (Dr. Mike) Harvey of Urbandale; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Larry, Harold and Tommy in infancy; 2 sisters, Thelma Michael and Ethel Faye Little as an infant.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Dec 5, at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball from 9 – 10:30 A.M. Wednesday.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138, the V.F.W. Post 1623, and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail.
