Terry Lee Melton, 62, of Virginia, passed away on March 16, 2011 at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va.

Terry was born on March 31, 1948, in Browning, Mo., to James and Laverne Melton. Terry grew up in Knoxville and graduated from KHS in 1966.

After attending the University of Iowa, Centerville Community College, and Northeast Missouri State, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1970.

He was married to Jane Sebben of Centerville, in February of 1969. They resided in many locations during his career in the Marine Corps. Terry retired from the Marine Corps as a First Sergeant in May of l995, after serving over 25 years.

His main career in the Marine Corps was as an aviation electrician, working on F4J and FA18 Fighter Jets.

Terry spent his retirement years with his wife, Jane, and their pets. He continued to work, was an active runner, and a Corvette enthusiast. He will be remembered as a loving husband and big brother.Terry Melton

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Jane, and two sisters, Mary Jo (Jack) O’Brian of Golden, Colo., and Gaye (Phil) Luksetich of Ankeny, and 14 nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Knoxville chapter of Dollars for Scholars or the ASPCA.
