Funeral services for Ruby Fern Murphy, 93, of Belle Plaine, who died July 17, at
Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center, were held July 20, 1998, at Hrabak Funeral
Home in Belle Plaine. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery near Belle Plaine.

The Rev. David Weesner officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jane Hrabak,
organist. Pallbearers were Don Kress, Don Pritchard, Vernop Blomme, Don Janss, Jack
Roger and Dale Beyer.

Ruby was born June 1, 1905, in Red Rock, the daughter of William A. and Maude Estella
Shilling Riherd. She attended Knoxville High School.

She was united in marriage to James M. Murphy on December 25, 1934, in Knoxville.
She was a school teacher for six years, and she and her husband were owners of the
Coast to Coast Store from 1937 until 1968.

She also served as Marion County Recorder
for six, years. She lived in Knoxville until moving to Belle Plaine in 1936. She
was a member of the Eastern Star, and Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Bernice; and two
brothers, John and Kenneth (Jim).

She is survived by a brother, Arthur Riherd of Belle Plaine; and a sister, Grace
Mabie of Knoxville.

Arrangements were made by Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
