Funeral services for Lillian Margaret Osborn, 92, of Knoxville, who died July 20,
were held July 23, 1998, at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was
at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
The Rev. Alan Finestead officiated at the services. Music was provided by Geof Shultz,
organist, and John Crawford, soloist. Pallbearers were Ned Job, Tom Goff, Stephen
Coon, Bill Goff, Craig Coon, and Alfred Loreto.
Lillian was born April 30, 1906, in Pekay, the daughter of Charles and Mary Moline
Kissinger. The family moved to Knoxville in 1912, and she graduated from Knoxville
High School in 1924. She taught school in Flagler after graduation.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Summer Osborn on January 1, 1928. He died in
1959. She had worked at Osborn's Drug Store, lowa State Savings Bank, the Knoxville
Public Schools, and as Site Manager for the Senior Citizen's Lunch Program.
She was a 70-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and served as Past Matron;
she was Past President of Knoxville Women's Club; as well as a member of Past Matron's
Club, Befrienders Club for the Marion County Care Facility. She joined the First
Christian Church
Lillian Osborn as a child, and taught Sunday School classes for 25 years. Currently,
she was a member of the Knoxville Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and two, sisters, Elizabeth Belknap, and
Anne Keller.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Goff of Des Moines, and Kathleen Loreto of
New York City, N.Y.; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Knoxville Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
