Ruby Floretta (McDonald) Dop was born August 27, 1932, in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of Henry Roy McDonald and Ethel (Vander Linden) McDonald. Ruby was the eighth of nine children born to Henry and Ethel.

Ruby attended country school at Scott Valley and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1951. Through the years, Ruby had worked at Rolscreen in Pella, Vernon Co. in Newton, the Book & Gift Store in Knoxville, and the Marion County Courthouse.

On November 13, 1965, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Dop. The couple always resided in Knoxville.

Ruby loved baking and making candy for all her friends and family, especially during the holidays. She also cooked and baked for countless funeral and church dinners.

Ruby loved children and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Children were drawn to Rudy’s gentle, loving nature and she was an extra mother and grandmother to hundreds of kids throughout her life.

Ruby passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 83 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers: Raymond, Walter, T.L., Frank, Jr., John, and Isaac, and her sister, Mary.

Those left to cherish Ruby’s memory include her husband, Kenneth; sister, Zella; sisters-in-law: Marilyn and Regina McDonald, Irma (Wendell) Williams, Dorothy (Bob) Handel, and Betty Dop; brothers-in-law: Harry (Marge) Dop and Roy (Beverly) Dop, a host of nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.Ruby McDonald

Funeral service for Ruby Dop, age 83 of Knoxville will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
