Funeral services for Rodney Lloyd Shilling, 28, of Knoxville, who died December
16, at his home, were held December 20, 1997, at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in
Knoxville.
Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. Bob Morris officiated at the services.
Pallbearers were Matt Shilling, Robert Riggen, Jason Johnston, Jeff Shilling, Chris
Strovers, and Phillip Simmons.
Rodney was born November 10, 1969, in Knoxville,
the son of Gary Shilling and Leanna Johnston Kennedy.
He was raised in Knoxville
and attended Knoxville schools. He had various jobs throughout the years, but his
favorite was washing windows, which allowed him to be outside.
He was preceded in
death by his maternal grandfather Marvin Johnston, and paternal grandfather, Raymond
Shilling.
He is survived by his parents of Knoxville; a half brother, Cory Shilling
of Des Moines; three half sisters, Rhonda Shilling, and Vicki Johnston, both of
Knoxville, and Sheri Shilling of Des Moines; four step sisters, Robyn Wright, and
Shelly Jacobi, both of Des Moines, Sue Lyn HeHigh of Melcher-Dallas, and Monica Lynne
Marker of Ames; two step brothers, Lawrence Kennedy of Des Moines, and Barry Eugen
Ruter of Delta, Colo.; paternal grandmother, Thurlene Shilling of Knoxville; maternal
grandmother, Delores Johnston of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and maternal great-grandparents,
John and Anna Isebrand of Titonka.
Memorials may be made to the family in Rodney's
honor.
