Funeral services for Charles Leroy Beaver Sr., 58, of Knoxville, who died December 19, at the Des Moines General Hospital, were held December 23, 1997, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at Breckenridge Cemetery in Marion County. Military honors were accorded by American Legion Post #168, and the Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post #3519.
The Reverends Robert C. Smith and Gary D. Carlson officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, organist, Jennifer Nelson, vocalist, and Dan Barth, trumpeter. Pallbearers were Jim Alisup, Gary Lenger, Royce Lenger, Greg Mausser, John Price, and Harley Shilling.
Charles was born March 3, 1939, in Knoxville, the son of Mable Monroe and Harold Austin Beaver. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956, and served until 1960.
He was united in marriage to Ann Francis Leonard in St. Francis Chapel in Providence, R.I. He lived in Providence for 26 years until returning to Knoxville in 1982. He was employed by the Reames Foods Company in Pella at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of Providence, R.I.; five sons, Michael, Mark and Gary, all of Providence, R.I., Kevin of Cranston, R.I., and Charles Jr., of Knoxville; two daughters, Donna Beaver of Providence, R.I., and Jennifer Nelson of Knoxville; two sisters, Nancy Harrison of Council Bluffs, and Diane Beaver of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; and longtime companion, Pam Nelson of Knoxville.
