Memorial services for Lloyd Robert Stevenson, 77, of Clinton, who died December
14, at his home, were held December 17, 1997, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
in Clinton. Burial was at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Charity Rowley officiated
at the services.
Lloyd was born May 30, 1920, in Knoxville, the son of Robert A.
and Helen Finarty Stevenson.
He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1938, and
graduated from William Penn College in Oskaloosa in 1941. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Army, serving as a medic during World War II.
He operated Stevenson Construction
Company in Marshalltown until 1974. He then managed Fulton River Terminal until
his retirement. He was an active member of the Clinton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
in Clinton. He was united in marriage to Fern L. Howard on August 26, 1944, in Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.
He is survived by his wife;
a son, Dennis of Round Rock, Texas; four daughters, Linda Northouse of Des Moines,
Margaret Stevenson of Littleton, Colo., Carol Reeves of El Paso, Texas, and Susan
Kinzer of Burlington; three brothers, Worth and Gene, both of Knoxville, and Grant
of Burlington; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were
made by Nelson Funeral Home in Clinton.
