Services for Furman Paul Ralston, Jr., 66, Knoxville, who died on Feb. 20, 1993,
in Knoxville after a lenghty bout with cancer, were Feb. 23, 1993, at the Bybee
and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. His body was cremated and his cremated remains
will be placed on the family lot at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Paul was born on July 15, 1926, in Knoxville, the son of Furman Paul Rolston, M.D. and Helen Stowitts
Ralston, R.N. Paul spent his early life in Knoxville where his parents were long
term medical professionals in the community.
He was well educated and received his
Ph.D. in biology from the University of Kansas. He was a veteran of World War II
and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Paul had a varied career as a biologist,
park ranger, teacher, museum curator, and audio-visual specialist. His two great
loves in life were nature and classical music. He did not marry and left no heirs but will be remembered by many for his kind and gentle character.
He was an active member of the Knoxville Kiwanis and he will be fondly remembered by neighbors and friends.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Knoxville Public Library.
