Services for Jay Will Brown, 41, Knoxville, who died on Feb. 16, 1993, in Kansas City, Mo. of a heart attack, were Feb. 19, 1993, at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. The Rev. Tim Stanwood officiated at the service. Pallbearers were Wendell Eck, Steve Everly,
Rick Dailey, Randy Dunkin, John Striplin and Wes DeMoss.
Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Haskell, Cleo Cole Roach Bobby Washington and Melvin Hill
Jay was born on May 12, 1951 it Collins, Iowa, the son of Delbert and Lois Busick Brown. Jay spent
his early life in the Harvey and Knoxville Area and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1969.
He was married to Marilyn J. Weldon on Oct. 6, 1972. Jay was first
employed at the Knoxville Veterans Hospital and in 1986, he moved to the Kansas
City area, where he was storage and distribution supervisor for the V.A.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1979; and one brother, Jason Brown.
Survivors include his wife of Missouri; four brothers, Delbert Lee Brown of Des Moines, John
Brown and Joe Brown of Knoxville and Jody Brown of Morgantown, W.V.; three sisters,
Carolyn Nearmyer of Prairie City, Lynda Van Wyngarden of Knoxville and Mary Ellen
Goode of Indianola; his father of Prairie City; and his maternal grandmother, Minnie
Busick of Knoxville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion County Shrine Club to be designated for crippled children.
