Pamela Sue “Pam” Nichol, age 55, of Knoxville passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics in Iowa City. Pam’s wishes were to donate her heart and lungs to the University Of Iowa School Of Medicine as medical research because of her rare congenital heart condition.
Pamela was born at St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, on November 8, 1957, the daughter of Jerry Lee and Delores Mae (Watt) Nichol. In 1958 when Pamela was a year old her mother died from cancer. Pamela was raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1976. After high school, Pam worked for a few years as a child care worker next to the VA Hospital in Knoxville.
In 1983 Pam adopted her son, Jeremy Manser. Pam was a stay home mom, raising and caring for her son. She also lived in Arizona for several years before moving back to Knoxville in 1997.
Pam was a very sociable lady. She loved talking with friends and family, collecting Disney characters, and country music concerts and shows. As a younger girl, she enjoyed horses.
Pam is survived by her son Jeremy Manser of Des Moines, her father Jerry and his wife Patty Nichol of Knoxville, one sister, Julie Minnihan of Knoxville, and one brother, Andrew Nichol of Knoxville. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
Pam was preceded by her grandparents, Walter and Gladys Nichol and John and Margaret Watt, her mother, Delores “Lori” (Watt) Nichol, one sister, Jennifer Nichol, and one nephew, Joel Minnihan.
A memorial service and burial at the Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville will be held at a later date.
