Funeral services for Martha Marie (Moon) Stotts, 89, of Knoxville, who died April 9, 1995, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held April 12, 1995, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery, in Knoxville.
The Rev. Aaron McCombs and Pastor Bob Moon officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist, and Julie Jensen, vocalist. Pallbearers were Jay Bates, Darrel Jensen, John Frederick, Jeff McCarty, Greg Moon, Len Moon, Terry Moon, and Robert Schultz.
Martha was born December 21, 1905, near Columbia, the daughter of Walter Lewis Moon and Jesse Violet Bingham. She lived on a farm in the Purdy area and later moved closer to Columbia. She attended school in Knoxville.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Franklin “Pete” Stotts on May 30, 1924. They farmed in the Columbia area until World War II.
She worked at several restaurants in the area, including Park Lane Cafe, and Pinkie’s. She was famous for her sense of humor. She also operated a laundromat for over 27 years and retired at age 78.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pete; two sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by a son, Gene Stotts of Knoxville; a sister, Mildred Beebout of
Knoxville; a brother, Donald Moon of Milan, Ill.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Knoxville Area Community Hospital T.L.C. Unit.
