Marjorie Mae (Bishop) Franklin was born on May 5, 1933, in Knoxville, Iowa. She was a graduate of Knoxville
High School. She grew up and lived in Knoxville until moving to Fulton, Missouri,
and then on to Bay City, Texas for 23 years before moving back to Knoxville in 2002.
On March 2, 1951, Marjorie was united in marriage with William “Bill” Franklin
in Knoxville, Iowa.
Marjorie sold toys, Tupperware, and imported goods in the Knoxville area and had
worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Bay City, Texas. She was a member of the Coal
Ridge Community Church in Knoxville.
Marjorie died on January 29, 2007
Memorial Service: 1 p.m., Saturday, February 03, 2007, at the Coal Ridge Community
Church in rural Knoxville.
Visitation: The family will greet friends before and after the memorial service
on Saturday, February 03, 2007, at the church.
Interment: Following services on Saturday, February 03, 2007, at the Coal Ridge Cemetery
in rural Knoxville.
Those left to honor Marjorie’s memory include her son, David (Mary) Franklin of
Knoxville; her four daughters, Lovena (David) Van Haaften of Pella; Pam (Steve)
Rodgers of Newton; Sandra (John) Mayfield of St. Joseph, Missouri; and Melinda (Woody)
Wood of Clinton, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Van Haaften; Nathan,
Amanda, Levi, and Heidi Rodgers; Rachel (Will) Paulman; Jennifer (Shane) Loomis,
Jennifer (Jeremy) Melton; Kim (Brent) Pourdie; and nine great-grandchildren, Bobby
and Kaleen Van Haaften; Ethan Loomis; Hailey, Natalie, and Emily Melton; and Jacob,
Alex and Andy Pourdie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Gladys (Weldon) Bishop; husband, William “Bill”; grandson, Joshua Rodgers; two brothers,
Chester Lee and Donald Forrest Bishop.
