Funeral services for Lucas DeWayne Buettner, 25, of Knoxville, who died on Friday,
November 10, 2000, at his home, were held on Tuesday, November 14, at EvansMcCleery
Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Speakers were Terry McNeely and Aaron Stam. Katie Davis
was soloist. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casket bearers were
Jeff Petty, Danny Marsh, Trevor Williams, Dan Davis, Nathan Sarvers and Brian Havlicek.
Luke was born on December 17, 1974, the son of DeWayne and Peggy Hayden Buettner.
He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1993 and attended Iowa State University
in Ames for two years.
He was currently employed by Langman Construction Company
in Rock Island, working in south central Iowa. Luke was enrolled at the University
of Iowa in Iowa City for the Spring 2001 semester. Luke enjoyed deer hunting, fishing,
spending time with his friends, and he closely followed Iowa State University sports.
He is survived by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Kristen and Ryan Gourley
and their children, Kelton and Meredith, all of Tipton; two brothers, Zachary of
Hinesville, Ga. and Jordan at home; his grandmother, Mary Hayden of Cedar Rapids;
and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Knoxville Rescue
Unit. Arrangements were made by Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
