Funeral services for Harold Hollingshead, 88, of Knoxville, who died on Thursday,
November 16, 2000, at his home, were held, November 20, at Bybee & Davis Funeral
Home. Rev. Peter J. Peterson officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene
Mooberry, organist, and Jim Kidder, soloist.

Interment was at Breckenridge Cemetery. Casket bearers were Verlan Nikkei, David
Bousfield, Allen Nunnikhoven, Mike Donnelly, and Gary and Hubert Hollingshead. Honorary
casket bearers were John Ellis, Cecil Galvin, Mike Edwards, Dick Miller, Ray McCombs,
and Jim Hollingshead.

Harold was born on August 11, 1912, on his family's farm east of Knoxville, to George
Earl and Mary Edith (Bruere) Hollingshead. He attended rural Victory School and
graduated from Knoxville High School. Following graduation he worked on the family
farm and also mined coal.

He married Hazel Loynachan on January 24, 1942 in Knoxville. They lived in the Knoxville
area all their married lives. Harold spent 32 years as a carpenter for Galvin Real
Estate. Harold was a member of the Methodist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday
School Class. He was a previous member of the Plymouth Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed
his collections, carving, and refinishing wood.

He was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. He and Hazel
also enjoyed traveling in Canada and Western United States.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Merwin; a sister-in-law,
Jeanne Hollingshead; and a brother-in-law, Elton Loynachan. He is survived by his
wife, Hazel of Knoxville; a sister-in-law, Helen Loynachan of Pella; four nieces;
and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Radio Ministry.
