Funeral services for Leo Clark Dykstra, 78, of Knoxville, who died October 6, were held October 9, 1994, at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Pastor Martha Ward officiated at the services.
Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist, and Ted Dykstra II, vocalist. Pallbearers were Fred Bankus, Richard Kaster, Russell Kaster, John Bankus, Robert Leo Dykstra Kaster, Mike Larson, and William Larson. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Bailey, Ken Durham, Merle Kennedy, Lionel Bybee, Edward Fast, and Clyde Williams.
Leo was born February 8, 1916, the son of Gertrude Eva Mallory and John J. Dykstra, in Osage,
Saskatchewan, Canada. At the age of three, the family moved to Green City, Mo.
They lived there until moving to Knoxville in 1933.
He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1934 and farmed all his life in the Knoxville area.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Odd Fellows I.O.O.F. Lodge #90 in
Knoxville. He was united in marriage to Doris May Porter, on December 28, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Knoxville; one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Haning of Knoxville; a son, Ted, of Knoxville, two sisters, Mable Rowley and Ruth Bankus of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, and nine
great-grandchildren.
