Services for Maxine Adams, 76, of Knoxville, who died October 7, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held October 11, 1994, at the First Christian Church in Knoxville.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Reverend Aaron McCombs officiated at the services.
Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist, and Richard Hunt, soloist. Pallbearers were Richard Goff, Keith Covey, Dick Rowland, Marion Goff, Daryl Jordan, and Merle Harrington. Honorary pallbearers were James Durham and John Reed.
Maxine was born April 2, 1918, in Marion County, the daughter of Ernest A. and Myrtle Maude Fee Covey. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, having taught in Flagler, Gosport, Columbia and Melcher-Dallas communities, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Knoxville and the Retired Teacher's
Association. She was united in marriage to Lewis Pearl Adams on December 17, 1939, in Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lewis; two brothers, Wayne and Dwight Covey; three sisters, Vera Durham, Mildred Jordan, and Arlene Covey.
She is survived by two sons, Ron Adams of Knoxville, and Jerry Adams of Norwalk; a sister, Juanita Goff of Knoxville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
