Funeral services for Audrey (May) Agan, 88, of Knoxville, who died September 26, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held September 29, 1994, at Evans McCleery Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. The Reverend Martha Ward officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Chris Agan, Wyatt McDonald, Charles Storm, Truman Sage, Bob Nichols and Mike May.
Audrey was born July 9, 1906, in Orange County, Indiana, the daughter of Fred and Ella Lee May. She moved to a farm near Columbia in 1917, and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1926. She taught in several Marion County country schools before she married Rex Agan on July 30, 1927, in Dallas. They lived on a farm near Columbia until moving to Knoxville in 1972.
She was a member of the Columbia Agan Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville after moving to town. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Rex.
She is survived by two daughters, Gretta Mae Moffet of Tucson, Arizona, and Kae Ilene Stout of Chariton; two sons, Floyd, of Camp Verde, Arizona, and Fred, of Harvey; two sisters, Ruth Hardy and Carolyn Garcia, both of Atascadero, Calif., 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Columbia Methodist Church, the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, the TLC Unit at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital and the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden.
