James Larry Sockriter, age 68, born April 21, 1955, in Knoxville, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2024.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A Rosary will take place at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Knoxville on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Following services, a burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited back to the church for a luncheon following burial services.
Memorials may be given in James’ memory to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
James was born on April 21, 1955, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Twyla (Crandall) Sockriter, Jr.
He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1974.
Following graduation, James worked at Pella Corp. for several years and then worked for the City of Knoxville doing seasonal mowing, which he loved.
James was a hard worker and loved to visit with people.
He was also very interested in photography and used to develop his pictures. James was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Gayland Sockriter, Carol Langstraat, Ruby Johnson, Rose Poole, and Ron Sockriter, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Twyla Sockriter; brother, John Sockriter; and grandparents, Clarence and Ruby Sockriter, Sr. and Frank and Jesse Crandall.
