Jay was a man of great faith and lived his faith openly. He cherished his family as well as his church family, and served the church, Living Word Fellowship, willingly and faithfully as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was gifted artistically illustrating many things with his paintings and his poetry. He enjoyed wood working and a wide variety of creative endeavors.

On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, his family relinquished him to his Saviour and Lord while under medical care at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan King of Knoxville; their two children and their families: John and Jessica King and their son, Sawyer, and their son Finn to be born in Oklahoma, Elaina and Jacob Vos and their daughter, Sophia, of New Sharon, Iowa; his siblings: Kenneth King of St. Paul, MN, Wayne King of Hurst, TX, Kay King of Springfield, MO, Rex King of Aurora, IL, Linda (King) Whitt of Springfield, MO, Michael King of New Ulm, MN, and sister Pat King of Long Lake, MN.
