following five years of treatment for Multiple Myeloma cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Kay. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa, and
son, Alan and wife, Catherine, all of Davenport and granddaughter, Rebecca of Oldsmar,
Fla. Brother-in-law Jerry, sister-in-law Carol and several nieces, nephews and cousins

Jim was born February 5, 1930, and raised in Knoxville, Iowa. He joined the Army in 1951, serving in Korea during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and returned to Knoxville.

In 1965 the family moved to Davenport. He was a millwright by trade working several
years for International Multi Foods of Davenport. He was a proud member of First
Christian Church in Davenport for 39 years.

In 2004 he and Kay moved to Sarasota, Fla., where they joined Church of the Palms
Presbyterian Church. Jim spent many Saturdays volunteering for Habitat for Humanity
in Sarasota, work he thoroughly enjoyed.

He was a man of many talents and always
willing to help friends and neighbors however he could. He could repair almost anything
and loved his tools and his workshop where he spent many happy hours.

He was a wonderful husband, father and friend who will be greatly missed by all
of us but we know he is now pain free and walking on “streets that are paved with
gold” with all those loved ones who have gone before.

on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. Burial was at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery.
