Vida Ann Peirce, 77, Kokomo, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Community
Howard Regional Health.
She was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard P. and Dorothy
Alma (Stephens) Randol. On May 28, 1956, in Knoxville, Iowa, she married Arthur F.
Peirce, who survives.
Vida was a 1953 graduate of Knoxville High School, Knoxville, Iowa. She was a homemaker,
loving wife and a thoughtful and generous mother, grandmother and friend. She had
worked for 10 years at the Kokomo B.M.V. office and had previously worked as a secretary
in the VA office in Milwaukee, Wis., and the VA Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa.
Vida was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, D.A.R., the Kokomo Travel
Club and a proud member of the Republican Party. She loved traveling with her husband,
exploring Europe, Egypt, and Israel, as well as the United States and Canada.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Linda Stilwell (Sam), Kokomo,
Carol Rini (Patrick), Dayton, Ohio, and Howard Peirce, Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren,
Elizabeth Stilwell, of Indianapolis, and Sarah Schmitt (Brian), Callie Rini and
Lainie Rini, all of Columbus, Ohio; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Schmitt; one
brother, Richard Randol (Donna), Knoxville, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Arla Randol,
Ames, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bernard Orval Randol.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2012,
at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Blvd. E., with Pastor William Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to call
from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln
Road, Kokomo.
