Funeral services for Howard Reichard, who died August 2 at his home, were held August 5 from Evans Arlington Chapel with Dr. Leonard Deaver officiating.
The burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
Casketbearers were John G. Elliott, Harvey Elliott, Howard Elliott, Michael Elliott, and John Elliott. Joe Cline, Joseph Johnston, and K.W. Hancock. Mrs. Lois Anderson was the organist.
Howard E., son of Frank and Lena Stentz Reichard, was born April 29, 1896, in Knoxville. He was a lifelong resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church; a fifty-year member and past commander of Baty – Tucker Post 168, American Legion having served in World War I; and a fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge
On Dec 29, 1920, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Gamble of Knoxville After his return from service in France, he entered the insurance business and was active until 1933 when he became
Knoxville postmaster for 17 years He was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees, a Rotarian, and active in many civic affairs.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one sister, Mrs. Georgia MacGibbon of Portland, Ore., and several nieces and nephews.
