Funeral services for Harriett Flora Gee, 76, of Knoxville, who died on Wednesday February 14, 2001, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held on Saturday, February 17, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Blubaugh officiated atthe services.
Interment was at Graceland Cemetery. Casket bearers were Pat Moss, Mike Gee, Ronald Gee, Gary Gee, Mike Moss, and Richard Watson.
Harriett was born on September 23, 1924, in Lovilia, the daughter of Harry and Mahaley (Mahaffey) Hartshorn. She was raised in the Knoxville area and graduated with the class of 1942.
She worked for Bellamy Phone Company and the Royal Pastry Shop as a young woman.
She married Robert L. Gee on January 24, 1943 in Knoxville. She enjoyed staying home and raising her children. When the children were grown she went to work for the Knoxville Hospital, retiring in 1987 after 22 years of service. Harriet served as a Sunday school teacher for years.
She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing with her children. She was a member of the Church of God and the Kitchen Band.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Juanita Moss; and brother, Chief Boatsman Harry R. Hartshorn.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Karen of Littleton, Colo. and Rev. Larry and Bernice of Thorton, Colo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jim Shank of Woodbury, Minn. and Irene and John Watson of Des Moines; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Memorials may be made to the Church of God.
