Funeral services for Clara Bell (Ridlen) Jordan, 91, of Pleasantville, formerly of Knoxville, who died on Friday, February 16, 2001, at her home, were held on Monday, February 19, at Williams Funeral Home Rev. James Pemble, officiated at the services. Music was provided by Nora DeReus, organist, and Shary Branderhorst, vocalist.
Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery in rural Marion County. Casketbearers were Rodney
Jolly, Daryl Jordan, David Jordan, John Jordan, Richard Ridlen, and Ardean Williams.
Clara Bell Jordan was born on July 30, 1909, in Knoxville, the daughter of Nellie
Robuck and Clarence Ridlen. She grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1928. Clara taught at Valley and Elmridge rural schools before her marriage.
She married Marion Steven Jordan on December 24, 1934, in Des Moines. Clara and Marion
lived in Melcher and Dunreath before settling in rural 2001 Pleasantville to farm.
She worked at the Gamble’s store in Knoxville and later at Look Magazine in Des Moines until retiring in 1972.
Clara enjoyed gardening and canning. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Pleasantville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Terri Jordan of Pleasantville;
two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nell Welch of Knoxville, and Ruth Williams of Melcher-Dallas as well as other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa in Knoxville or the Pleasantville Rescue Unit.
