Services for Mary Eva (Core) Trabert, 76, who died Mar. 7, 1981 at her home in Knoxville, were held Mar. 10 at the First United Methodist Church. Bybee & Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery. Dr. Leonard E. Deaver officiated at the services.
Music was provided by Chris Van Vark, organist. Pallbearers were Delbert Humeston,
Lewis Job, Carroll Johnson, Clayborn Barnett, J.C. Brubaker Jr. and Don Dennison.
Honorary pallbearers were John Fee, Howard Hunt, Beryl Reynolds, Herbert Cline and
Bill Scott.
Mrs. Trabert was born Jan. 2, 1905 in Marion Co., the daughter of Fran and Effie
M. Clarke Core.
In 1909 the family moved to homestead a farm 30 miles northwest Mrs. Trabert was
born in Phillip, S.D. The family returned to Marion Co. in 1913 and she attended
the Union Grade School and graduated in 1923 from Knoxville High School. She attended
the University of Iowa.
She was married to M. Andrew Trabert on Aug. 19, 1923 at Knoxville.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a charter member
of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and served as its president for three succcessive years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the organization that succeeded
the Women’s Society of Christian Service and of the Love Circle.
She also served
on the Official Board of the church and was a member of the Building Committee for
the erection of the new Education Unit and new kitchen. She served on the committee
to remodel the Women’s Parlor and the new Lounge.
She was charter member of the
Mentor and Pleasure Time Clubs and served both organizations as president
of the Knoxville Women’s Club and at the time of her illness she was active in
the Art Department of the Women’s Club.
Eva catered many meals for clubs and social
functions in and around Knoxville. For 17 years she was the caterer for the noon
meal at the Knoxville Rotary Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and
one sister, Esta Morgan. She is survived by her husband, M. Andrew Trabert of Knoxville;
two sons, Brenton of Knoxville and Wylie of Mount Dora, Fla., and one granddaughter.
