Funeral services for Doyle Gene Birkenholz, 62, of Tulsa, Okla., who died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Tulsa, were held Monday, March 22, at Brookhaven Christian Church. Pastor Pam McGrath officiated at the services. Cheryl Stice was the organist;

Interment was at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken-Arrow, Okla. Military rites were accorded by the United States Marine Corp. Casketbearers Chuck Currin, Clifton Jackson, Phill Johnston, Kelly Wilson, Wayde Wilson, and Mike Worthington. The honorary bearer was Bob Meyer.

Doyle was born on July 15, 1941, in Monroe, Iowa to George Edgar and Sylvia (Briggs) Birkenholz. He joined the Marine Corps on Dec. 1, 1958, in Des Moines. On Aug. 4, 1963, he married Dixie Wilson in Knoxville. Doyle worked as an electrician for the Warren Professional Building Corporation.

He was a member of Brookhaven Christian Church. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and playing pool.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Billy Joe Birkenholz

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dixie; daughter, of Tulsa; son, Jeff Birkenholz and wife Teneya of Mannford; six grandchildren; his mother, Sylvia (Briggs) Birkenholz; brother, Irvin Birkenholz and wife Gay of Knoxville; sister, Linda Castel, and husband Bill of Pella; and many nieces nephews and cousins.

Arrangements were made by Moore’s Eastlawn Chapel.
