Memorial services for Frances Lucille Moon, 83, of Knoxville, who died Saturday,
March 20, 2004 at the Christopher House in Austin, Texas, will be 'held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, April 3, at Williams Funeral Home.
Pastor Peter J. Peterson will officiate
at the services. Music will be provided by Katie Davis, vocalist accompanied by
Geoff Shultz, organist. Bryce Bartley will be the urn bearer. Interment will be
in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville.
Frances was born on Aug. 13, 1920, in Knoxville, to Wilford and Bernice (Maddy)
Line.
She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1938. On June 23, 1939 she married Leland
Moon in Kirksville, Mo.
Frances was a lifelong resident of Knoxville. For most of her working career she
was employed as a secretary to the principal and superintendent of the Knoxville
Public Schools. She served on committees for the First United Methodist Church,
Bell Choir, Women's Society and Sarah Circle.
Frances and Leland were members of the Good Sam's Club and Marion County Historical
Society. Her hcbbies included gardening, reading, home decorating, playing bridge
in the same club since 1937, traveling and camping. Even though her family had moved
to different areas of the country, they remained the most important part of her
life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Leland; brother,
Chester Line; and two sisters, Hazel and lone Line.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Henning of San Clemente, Calif. and Alison Barley of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister,
Pauline McNeish of Knoxville; and brother, Clifford Line of Knoxville.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Bessie Spaur Butterfly
Garden.
