Services for Donna Jean (Richardson) Spoon, 55, of Knoxville, died of a heart ailment Wednesday, March 23, 1994 at her home. Services were held on March 26, 1994, at Williams Funeral Home, in Knoxville. Burial was at Olive Chapel Cemetery in Marion County.
Pastor Leo Freel officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, organist, and Dana Ewing and Sharon Messick, vocalists. Pallbearers were James Earl, Rick Thomas, Roy Ver Woert, Al Nichols, Brian Ver Woert, and Don Zoutte. Honorary pallbearers were Amos Spoon Sr., Lawrence Ewing, Derrick Williams, Amos Spoon Jr. Harold Messick, and Aaron Spoon.
Donna was born on March 20, 1939, in Knoxville, the daughter of Harold Maynard Richardson and Mabel Roberta Oliver.
She spent her entire life in the Knoxville area and attended school here. She began work at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville in 1967, and worked as a nurse’s aide until 1983. She loved to crochet, knit, sing, and go camping with her husband.
She was united in marriage to Amos Orlando Spoon Sr. on August 3, 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Donald, and an infant son, Harold.
She is survived by her husband, Amos, of Knoxville; a son Amos, Jr. of Melcher-Dallas; two daughters, Sharon Messick of Houston, Texas, and Dana Ewing of Des Moines; a brother, Wayne Richardson of Alamagordo, New Mexico; three sisters, Ruth Pope of Knoxville, Doris Thomas of Knoxville and Linda Ver Woert of Des Moines; four grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
