Funeral services for Arthur Wilfred Stittsworth, 77, of Knoxville, who died July
23, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held July 25, 1996, at Williams
Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
The Rev.
John States and Pastor Tim Stanwood officiated at the services. Music was provided
by Darlene Mooberry, organist, Kevin Stittsworth, pianist, and Mike Stittsworth,
saxophonist. Pallbearers were Dan Barth, Greg Betterton, Joel Betterton, Chris Larson,
Doug Roorda, Alex Stittsworth, Kevin Stittsworth, Mike Stittsworth, Robert Stittsworth,
and Tim Stittsworth.
Arthur was born March 12, 1919, in Marion County, the son of
John Louis and Dollie Powers Stittsworth. He attended Georgia Ridge country school,
and graduated from Knoxville High School.
He farmed in the Marion County area most
of his life. After retiring from farming, he worked at Avery's Hardware Store. He
was a founding member of the Whitebreast Beavers 4-H Club, ano served as leader
for many years.
He was united in marriage to Betty June Roorda on October 20 1940,
in Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; a brother;
a son-in-law, Ron Betterton; and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife,
of Knoxville; a daughter, Molly Betterton of Knoxville; three sons, Jim and John,
both of Knoxville, and David of Cedar Park, Texas; a sister, Inez Ellerhoff of Knoxville:
10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Whitebreast
Beavers 4-H Club, and the Knoxville High School Music Department.
