Ronnie “Ron” Hegwood, 61, of Ray, ND, passed away Friday evening, August 11, 2006, following a yearlong battle with cancer, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston, ND.

His funeral service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at 2:00 PM in the Ray Lutheran Church. Pastor Steve Anderson will officiate and interment will be held at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Ray.

Ronnie “Ron” Hegwood was born on September 16, 1944, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Harold and Mary “Lucille” Hegwood.

Ron moved to the North Dakota area in 1978.

On September 16, 1980, Ron was united in marriage to Dianne Bartlette in Williston, ND. They established their home in Ray where he owned Ron’s Plumbing and Heating

Service and the Bank Bar. After a successful career owning his own business, Ron also worked at Dawson Geophysical and Tioga Machine Shop.

Ron had many interests and talents. He enjoyed flying, fishing, plumbing, heating, and cooling. He loved to tinker in the garage and could fix anything that was “fixable”.

Ron is survived by his wife, Dianne of Ray; three sons, Kelly (Lisa) Hegwood of Newton, Iowa; Doug (Shadell) Faircloth of Powell, Ohio; Jody (Michelle) Hegwood of Knoxville, Iowa, three daughters, Melissa (Travis) Rettig of Ray, ND; Leanne (Tony) Gerdom of Knoxville, Iowa and Mindy (Justin) Johnson of Williston, ND. Thirteen Grandchildren; Nathan, Mathew, Katherine, Christopher, Abigale, Anthony, Adam, Ashley, Tiffany, Joshua, Samantha, Devin, and Keerie, seven great-grandchildren; Sammy, Madison Kiona, Kaylie, Ethan, Dawson and Gage, his brother, Gary (Donna) Hegwood and his sister, Jackie Stone of Republic, Missouri, and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary “Lucille” Hegwood, and his sister, Marilyn Hegwood.

Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Williston on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, and at the church in Ray one hour prior to services.
