David Clarke Betterton Services for David Clarke Betterton, 53, who passed away March 30, 1992, at Des Moines General Hospital of cancer, were held April 2 at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.

Rev. Rick Burns officiated at the services. Music was provided by James Kidder, the organist.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bert Dennison, Jerry Lee Thompson, Joel Dee Betterton, Paul Richard Betterton,
John Charles Betterton, and Matthew John Betterton.

David was born on October 10, 1938, to Harold and Margaret M. Clarke Betterton.

He graduated from Knoxville High School in the class of 1956. He worked as a roofer in his early life and then started his employment in the
telephone industry in the late 50s. He was with Western Electric from 1960 to 1984 and then was employed by Telephone Installers Inc. until his death.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Briley on May 20, 1983, in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving is his wife Patricia; three daughters, Tamra Starr of Elmhurst, Ill., Tonya Betterton of Breckenridge, Colo., and Miika Betterton of Pleasantville; his son William Betterton of Pleasantville; five stepsons, Terry Hall of Cedar Rapids, Gary Hall of Des Moines, Kevin Hall of Fort Madison, Bill Briley of Keokuk and Brad Briley of Knoxville; two step-daughters, Barbara Briley of Denver, Colo., and Amy Briley of Knoxville.

Also, surviving are two brothers, Joe Betterton of Knoxville and John Betterton of Cedar Rapids; his sister Sara Hopkins of Wentzville, Mo.; his great Aunt Othello Freeman of Knoxville, and his mother-in-law Olove Hagmeier of Keokuk. He has four grandchildren surviving.
