JoAnn (Hollingshead) Lee was born October 10, 1954, in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of James V. and Wilma F. (Pearson) Hollingshead.
JoAnn graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1972. On October 19, 1971, JoAnn was united in marriage to Greg Lee at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She worked at the Knoxville Clinic for a few years, followed by a job at Montgomery Street Pre-School. She spent some years as a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her daughters, Amy & Angie. She then went to work for the Knoxville Community School District, working in various special education rooms at both the middle school and the high school. Kids were the love of JoAnn’s life and she especially enjoyed helping those with special needs and learning disabilities. She retired from the school district in May of 2014 after 20 years of service.
JoAnn was a member of Celebrate Church in Knoxville and had a very deep faith. She loved attending her kid’s and grandkids’ activities. JoAnn loved keeping her own little scorebook at her grandkids’ (Tara and Carson) games. One of the first things they would do is run up to Grammy and see their “Grammy” stats after every game. Of course, there was never a turnover or a negative stat in her book. She was so proud of her family and loved to brag about them to anyone who would listen.
JoAnn passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 67 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.V. and Wilma Hollingshead; daughter, Amy Jo Lee, and her in-laws, Bob and Rita Lee.
Those left to cherish JoAnn’s memory include her devoted husband of 50 years, Greg; daughter, Angie (Jim) Uitermarkt; grandchildren: Tara and Carson Uitermarkt; siblings: J.L. (Janice) Hollingshead of Knoxville, Jack (Linda) Hollingshead of Hartsburg, Missouri, Judy (Tom) Kamp of Knoxville and Jerry (Karen) Hollingshead of Knoxville; in-laws: Terry (Janet) Lee of Knoxville, Jim (Barb) Lee of Knoxville, Linda (Dean) Stecker of Knoxville, Bob (Amy) Lee of Knoxville, Bernard (Denise) Lee of Pleasant Hill and Lori (Brad) Rockwood of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.
