Services for Wyatt Applegate, 73, of Knoxville, who died July 31, 1986, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Aug. 2 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.

The interment was in Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Dale Schoening officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, the organist.

Pallbearers, were Dick and Jim Rowland, Dick Darnell, Sam Fisher, John Dhabalt, and Richard Hixson.

Mr. Applegate was born March 25, 1913, in Knoxville, the son of Stanley and Minnie Bingaman Applegate.
In 1929, he graduated from Knoxville High School.
He married Hazel Rowland on May 1, 1941, in Lancaster, Mo.

Farming until 1979, he became employed by the VA Medical Center in 1964 and an agent and director of the Marion County Mutual Insurance Assoc. in 1974. He retired in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne; and one sister, Theo Spaur.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Marty) Borgelt of Rockton, Ill; one sister Georgia Long of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established for the Olive Chapel Methodist Church.
