Services for Dr. Worthey C. Boden, 79, of Sioux City, who passed away Oct. 9, 1991, in the Sioux City Hospital after a brief illness, were held Oct. 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Sioux City.
Additional services were held on Oct. 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Burial with military rites by John Meyers Post #3519 V.F.W. were at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Rev. Duane Churchman officiated at the (Stroud) services.
Dr. Boden, son of George and Mary Boden, was born June 9, 1912, in Monroe County. He attended Knoxville High School and graduated with the class of 1929. He then attended the University of Iowa and was awarded his medical degree in 1935. He interned at the Receiving Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
On Aug. 21, 1936, he married Lois Clark in Colo.
Dr. Boden was an active member and leader in the First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. He was also a member of Tyrian Lodge #508 A.F. and A.M., Abu Bela Shrine, High Twelve, Monahan Post #64, American Legion, Sioux City Noon Lions Club, and Sioux City Country Club.
His professional memberships ” included the Woodbury County Medical Society, Iowa State Medical Society, the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, and the Academy of Otolaryngology and Opthalmology.
Preceding Dr. Boden in death was his parents and two brothers, Dr. Herbert Boden and H.R. Boden. He is survived by his wife, Lois; one son, Chuck of Maurice; three daughters, Mrs. Ely (Carla) Britton, Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Carl V. (Nancy) Bylin of Russellville, Ark. and Mrs. William (Emily) Whittmore of New Orleans, La.; six grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many, many friends.
Memorial may be made to the Worthey C. Boden Ministerial Scholarship fund of the First United Methodist Church.
