Services for Willis Lee Andrews, 60, of Knoxville, who passed away May 13, 1991, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held on May 16 at the First United Methodist Church.
The interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. K. Wayne Hoehns officiated at the services.
Music was provided by organist Jim Kidder and soloist Tim Gotta. Pallbearers were Bill Roff, Jerry Harvey, Dick Hopkins, Lloyd Goad, Ted Dykstra, and Bob Conway.
Honorary pallbearers were Babe Cox, Leo Cowman, Merle Vickroy, Joe Johnston, Lee Robinson, Dean Jones, and the Knoxville Rescue, Knoxville City, and Rural Fire Departments.
Willy was born on Oct. 22, 1930, near Knoxville, the son of Charles and Florence Shilling Andrews. He graduated from Knoxville High School.
He married Marjory Ann Rees on Nov. 3, 1951, in Knoxville. He was a life-long resident of Marion County. He retired from Iowa Power and Light Company in 1985 after 30 years. He served with the Iowa National Guard for 32 years retiring in 1988 as Lieutenant Colonel. Willy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville and was also a member
of the Knoxville City Fire Department and Rescue for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Molly Sue Jennings.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Alan (Cindi) Jennings of Monroe; two sisters, Lola Metcalf and Mrs. Merle (Ruth) Kennedy, both of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Ryan Paul and Amy Brooke Jennings, both of Monroe and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made in his name to the family.
