Mary Virginia Onstank was born on January 3, 1925 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Garret John Onstank and Dorothy Margaret (Clark) Onstank.

She was raised in Knoxville and graduated with the class of 1942. Virginia worked at the ASCS office for over 35 years, before retiring as the Executive Director in 1980. As a young woman, she also worked at Speed's Drugstore and at a local restaurant.

Virginia was a very community minded person and volunteered for countless projects through the years. She especially enjoyed conducting bingo at the T.L.C. Unit. Above all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Knoxville Area community Hospital Auxiliary, the Pine Knolls Country Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Virginia passed away on Friday, June 1, 2001 at her home at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 29 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to honor her memory include twin sisters; Maude Roff and husband Bill of Knoxville and Martha Jenkins and husband Frank of Knoxville; her aunt, Lois Boden of Sioux City; her best friend, Faye Van Rees of Knoxville and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family members and friends.
