Dr. Vinton N. Rowley, age 81, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning at
the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Vinton was born in Pella, Iowa and graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville,
Iowa. He graduated from Central College in Pella and received his Masters and PhD
Degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Dr. Rowley was Professor of Clinical
Psychology at the University of Iowa for 35 years and retired a professor emeritus
in 1991.

He had been President of the Iowa Psychology Association, served on the Council
of Representatives American Psychological Association and member of the initial
licensing board of the Iowa Psychological Association. He enjoyed sports and had
an appreciation for classical jazz music.

Dr. Rowley is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Hayes) Rowley of Iowa City; two
sons: Ronald M. Rowley and his wife, Jan of Prince George, VA and Ross M. Rowley
and his wife, Coleen of Apple Valley, MN.; 7 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The family prefers memorials for the wrestling program at the University of Iowa
in Iowa City in lieu of flowers.
