Vera Lorain Kading was born on July 25, 1897, in Marion County, Iowa, the daughter of Herman L. and Blanche Heavner Kading.

She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1915 and from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1941.

She taught in the Bussey, Rock Valley, Carroll and Mason City schools in Iowa and retired in 1963 after having taught at East Elementary in Knoxville for 35 years.

Vera was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, Chapter M P.E.O., Delta Kappa Gamma-Alpha Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 85, Rebekah Lodge No. 70 and Karta. She was a long-time member of the Iowa State Education Association.

Vera died on January 8, 1988, in the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 13 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Reese Kading.

She is survived by one brother: Howard L. & wife Geraldine Kading of Knoxville and one sister: Mrs. Grace Dixon of Knoxville; four nephews: Donald F. Dixon and Thomas W. Kading, both of Knoxville, H. Larry Kading of Portland, Oregon and Richard R. Kading of Iowa City, Iowa and many friends.
Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
