Funeral services for Thomas Lee Capps, 25, of Knoxville, who died June 2, 1996 at the
University Hospitals in Iowa City, were held June 5, 1996, at the First United Methodist
Church in Knoxville. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, at a later
date.

The Rev. Bob Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by Geoff
Shultz, organist-pianist; Mike Stittsworth, saxophonist; friends from UNI Ensemble;
and Jason Brewer, trumpeter.

Pallbearers were Dan Jordan, Dan Lane, Andy Popson,
Mike Stittsworth, Bill Wright, and Greg Wright. Honorary bearer was Pat Murphy.

Thomas was born March 18, 1971, in Pella, the son of Joyce Mae Milburn and Richard
Lee Capps. He grew up in Knoxville, and attended Knoxville Schools. He was a member
of the Marching Band, the Jazz Band, and Drum Line.

He graduated in 1989. He graduated
from the Univesity of Northern Iowa School of Music in 1995. He was actively involved
in the UNI Jazz Band. He has worked at the Knoxville Hy-Vee, as well as being a
freelance musician. He was a member of the Knoxville First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and an uncle.
He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Karen Capps of Des Moines, and Jane
Farnsworth of Oskaloosa; and grandmother Lois Capps of Galesburg, Ill. Memorials
may be made to the University of Northern Iowa Foundation, and the Jazz Scholarship
Fund.
