Terry Michael Zickel was born October 20, 1942 at Stone Hospital, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Frank and Mildred (Harrington) Zickel.

Terry and his family lived in Knoxville until moving to Fond du lac, Wisconsin in 1956. He played in the school band in Wisconsin. The family later returned to Knoxville where Terry graduated from high school.

As a young man, Terry served in the Army Reserve and worked in his father’s business, House Doctors.

On October 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Geurts. To this union three children were born: Paula, Doug, and Dan. In 1963 Terry went to work with a bridge crew and later took a job with Roff Associates, as a bricklayer. He worked on several projects including the Pella Tulip Toren and East Ward School.

In January of 1970, Terry started work for Iowa Power & Light. He retired in May of 2003.

Terry enjoyed sports, music and of course, his recliner. In earlier years he and Carolyn drag-raced at the Eddyville speedway. He also liked farming with Dan. His greatest joy was family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Terry passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at The Cottages, in Pella, at the age of 72 years.

Those left to cherish Terry’s memory include his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Paula (Mitch) Nelson and their family: Zach (Kaycie), Mackenzie, and Ashlyn of Vancouver, Washington; son, Dan (Lisa) Zickel and their family: Lacee and Alyssa of Knoxville; sister, Sherry VanderLinden of Lincoln, Nebraska and many other family members and friends.
