William Lee “Bill” Crozier age 80, of Melcher, passed away Monday morning, May 18, 2015, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Celebrate Community Church of Knoxville. Bill’s Family will be present throughout the evening. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 A.M., until service time Thursday at Sacred Heart Church.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Melcher, with Rev. Jacob Greiner officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery of Melcher-Dallas.
Bill was born in Knoxville, Iowa on September 17, 1934 to Floyd Marvin and Velma Janice (Rowley) Crozier.
William was raised around Red Rock and attended Knoxville High School, Class of 1953.
During high school, William was selected to the Elite All State Football Team of 1952 and a 1952 Football All-American.
After high school, Bill served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany, as a helicopter mechanic, during the Korean War. After his service, Bill moved to Des Moines and worked for a short time before moving to Melcher.
On August 31, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Church in Melcher, William and Jeanette Mary Luscri were united in marriage. They shared 41 years of marriage and were blessed with six sons: Mark, Joe, Bruce, Michael, Jim, and Brian. Jeanette passed away on February 5, 1999.
Bill helped raise his family and he worked for 33 years at the V. A. Hospital, mainly in the boiler plant.
Bill was very active all his life. He enjoyed gardening, walking and recently riding his bicycle. He loved watching his grandchildren’s activities. He was a Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan, and longtime devoted Melcher-Dallas sports fan. He was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and an American Legion, Dallcher Post 632 member. Bill was a longtime former church trustee and past president, a former Melcher-Dallas School Board member and a former Melcher-Dallas City Council member.
After Bill retired he wintered in Arizona and recently he tinkered with woodworking.
On November 27, 1999, Willam and Luetta Faye Langebartels were united in marriage. Bill and Luetta shared 15 years of marriage together before Bill’s passing.
Bill is survived by his wife Luetta Crozier; six sons, Mark (Betty) Crozier, Joe (Dee) Crozier, Bruce (Dawn) Crozier, Michael (Deb) Crozier, Jim (Lisa) Crozier, and Brian (Lois) Crozier; 16 grandchildren, Nathan Key, Heather Key, Shannon (Broc) Galbreath, Andy (Julie) Crozier, Alex (Amy) Crozier, Nathan Crozier, Megan Crozier, Conner Crozier, Jaymi Crozier, Hayli Crozier, Lexi Crozier, Jordy Tickle, Whitley Gilbert, William Crozier, and Christopher Crozier; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Keith (Marge) Crozier; and three sisters, Donna (Ray) Meulpolder, Pat (Ron) Henning, and Carolyn (Perry) Klein.
Bill is also survived by Luetta’s children, Joy (Tom) Smith, Sandy (Jim) Wilson, and Janon Johnson; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Velma Crozier, his wife of 41 years Jeanette Crozier, one great-grandson, Clayton Thomas Crozier, and Luetta’s daughter, Connie Hoch.
